Ready for your slicer
A closed, watertight STL that opens in Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio and other slicers.
How it works
- 1
Drop your GLB file
Drag the .glb onto the page or tap to choose it. A GLTF also works if its data is embedded in the file.
- 2
Confirm units and up axis
GLB files are assumed to be in meters, and the model is turned from Y-up to Z-up. Both are on by default; change them if the preview looks wrong.
- 3
Download the STL
Download the binary STL, written in millimeters, and open it in your slicer.
Why GLB models need more than a rename
GLB is the binary form of glTF, a format built for the web, AR and games. It is what many AI 3D generators and online model libraries give you. A 3D printer slicer cannot use it directly, and two differences make a simple rename impossible. glTF measures in meters and puts the up direction on the Y axis, while slicers expect millimeters and Z up. Convert it properly and the model lands in your slicer at the right size, standing on the plate.
Meters to millimeters, Y-up to Z-up
The glTF standard says one unit is one meter. A figure that is 0.08 units tall is 8 cm, and as an STL in millimeters it must be 80. The converter multiplies for you using the "Units in the file" setting, which defaults to meters for GLB. If the model comes from a tool that ignored the standard and the result looks 1000 times too small or too big, change the selector.
glTF also uses Y as up. Slicers use Z. Without a rotation, your model would lie on its back. The up-axis option, on by default, turns it so the base sits on the plate. Always check the preview and the size before you download.
GLB from AI generators
Many image-to-3D and text-to-3D services export GLB with colors. Those colors come from textures, and STL cannot store textures, so the printed model will be one color unless you paint it in your slicer. AI meshes can also contain thin parts, small holes or floating bits, so look at the preview and run your slicer's repair or check for errors before a long print. If you start from a photo, the AI 3D tab on this site can produce a printable figure from one picture.
GLTF files with separate parts
A .gltf file can reference a separate .bin file and image files. This converter reads a GLTF only when everything is embedded in it. If yours comes as several files, open it in Blender or an online glTF tool and export it as a single .glb, then convert that. Animation, rigging and cameras in the file are ignored; only the mesh is used.
Frequently asked questions
Is this GLB to STL converter free?
Yes. It is free and unlimited, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is my GLB uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser and the model never leaves your device.
Why does my STL look 1000 times too big or small?
glTF/GLB uses meters and STL is read as millimeters. The tool converts for you, but if the original file used other units, change the "Units in the file" selector.
Are the colors and textures kept?
No. STL has no color or texture data. The shape is kept and the print will be a single color unless you paint or split it in your slicer.
Does it work with .gltf files?
Only when the data is embedded in the .gltf. If it uses a separate .bin file, export it as a .glb first.
