The model is built on your phone or computer. The image is never uploaded.
Ready for your slicer
A closed, watertight STL that opens in Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio and other slicers.
How it works
- 1
Drop your GLB file
Drag the .glb onto the page or tap to pick it. The preview shows the model, its size and triangle count.
- 2
Pick OBJ as the output
Choose OBJ with the format buttons. The units selector sets how the size is written; GLB is assumed to be in meters.
- 3
Download the OBJ
Download the file and open it in your 3D software.
When you need OBJ instead of GLB
GLB packs a model, its materials and its textures into one file made for the web and real-time viewers. OBJ is an older and simpler mesh format that nearly every 3D program can import, including CAD tools and slicers that do not understand glTF. Converting GLB to OBJ is a quick way to move a model into software that does not support GLB, or to get a plain mesh you can edit, scale or repair.
What carries over and what does not
The mesh geometry is converted. Textures, materials, colors, animations, rigs and cameras are not carried into the OBJ. If your GLB looks colorful in a viewer, expect a plain grey model after conversion, and keep the original GLB if you need to preserve the look. For modeling or 3D printing this is usually fine, because the shape is what matters.
If you only want to print the model, you can skip OBJ and choose STL as the output directly.
Units and orientation
glTF is defined in meters with Y pointing up. The OBJ is written in millimeters by this tool, so a 0.1 unit model becomes 100 mm. Your 3D software may then interpret OBJ units differently: Blender, for example, may show it as a large object if its scene is set to meters. If the size is off, scale it in your software or change the "Units in the file" setting here and convert again.
Because OBJ is mostly used with Z-up in printing and CAD tools, the up-axis option rotates the model to match. Turn it off if your target software also uses Y-up and the model looks tilted.
Tips for GLB files from other tools
GLB models from AI generators and online libraries often have many triangles and sometimes small gaps or floating pieces. They convert fine, but check the mesh before editing or printing. A .gltf file works only if everything is embedded in it; if it comes with a separate .bin, export a .glb from Blender or another tool first.
Frequently asked questions
Is the GLB to OBJ converter free?
Yes. It is free and unlimited, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the model stays on your device.
Are textures and materials in the OBJ?
No. Only the geometry is exported. Textures, materials and colors from the GLB are not carried over.
Can I convert OBJ to GLB as well?
Yes. Open the OBJ and choose GLB as the output. The GLB is written in meters, as the glTF standard asks.
Why does the model look the wrong size in Blender?
The OBJ is written in millimeters while Blender's default scene uses meters. Scale the object by 0.001 or change the unit settings.
